Quality policy of the business unit steelcord

"Right the First Time"
In order to guarantee the maximum qualitative level of its products, the B.U. Steelcord has developed its Quality System based on the continuous improvement of its products and services. This system uses customer feedback as a benchmark and has obtained ISO-9001:2000 certification.

During 2007, as a further step in continuous improvement, Figline Valdarno plant obtained also the automotive sector ISO/TS 16949:2002 certification.

Each strategic objective of B.U. Steelcord is assigned Key Performances Indicators. These indicators monitor and measure the effectiveness of the strategic activities carried out throughout the entire organization.

Within B.U. Steelcord, a Management Representative is named to develop, implement and guarantee the Quality System. The Quality Functions of each production unit have the task of implementing the Quality System inside the plant and ensuring the functionally is carried out throughout B.U. Steelcord.

The targets for quality are stated in the Management Plan and are revised regularly at the Re-examination of the Management meetings.

Enviroment, security & social responsibility policy of the business unit steelcord

The B.U. Steelcord considers the safeguard, integrity of the environment, health and welfare protection of its personnel as some of the most important issues within the company. Moreover, it is engaged in continuous improvement of social, ethical, environmental and industrial safety aspects within its facilities. To ensure the highest level of working conditions, we've implemented the following general principles:

• Manage activities adopting environmental and security management systems in  accordance with international standards ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001; and with the Ethical Code of the Pirelli Group 
• Evaluate and minimize the environmental impact of processes and products
• Evaluate the risks of professional accidents and diseases in order to remove or reduce them at the minimum 
• Promote the usage of the most advanced technologies to protect workers' health and environment
• Support the employment of recycled materials and when possible, reduce the usage of natural resources
  
  

To reach these targets the B.U. Steelcord has been equipped with Certified Systems as per ISO 140001 and OHSAS 18001.
