Gouging
Operation consisting of creating or modifying a tread pattern by removing part of the rubber from the tread area using a hot chiselling tool.
Groove
Term used to indicate the complex of hollows (grooves and sipes) in a tread pattern.
Groove depth
Height of the carved part of the tread, measured from the base of the groove.
