The continuous development of Pirelli tyres in the World Superbike championship, the know–how acquired by endless test Diablo on the new bikes and the cooperation with world-class bike manufacturers, made possible for Pirelli to find further technical areas of improvement for a product that was already the benchmark in the segment.

Pirelli development has been focused on latest generation of machinery, characterized by quite different power and torque curve delivery across the entire rev range. They require that even more power be transmitted to the ground. New generation of chassis, with higher rigidity, allow greater responsiveness and benefit from an optimal balance of grip and handling; ergo the front delivers faster corner entries and greater feedback allows more security. The latest generation of electronics and rider aids (i.e. slipper clutches) complete the evolutionary benefits. All this improvement passes through the tyre; all the tyre tasks pass through the contact patch.

The success of Diablo Supercorsa is confirming that an improvement of the contact patch behavior can give benefits far away from contribution of every other single component, like a compound. Improve the contact patch requires a specific and integrated tyre design as many variables influence it: the dimensions at different angles, the tread cuts inside it, the load distribution, the rigidity.

This is the basis of the Pirelli EPT (Enhanced Patch) technology: the entire tyre set components work in coordination to keep perfectly in touch the bike and the ground. EPT technology is coordinated with the Functional Groove Design (FGD) that optimizes the tread design and the Ideal Contour Shaping (ICS), developed for Diablo.
EPT technology brings to an innovative concept for the tread, a new dynamic profile design, supported by the patented zero degrees steel belt radial structure, new materials.

This make DIABLO ROSSO guarantee a level of excellence never seen before for a road product.

Tyre Structure


The design of the structure is aimed to maximize at all lean angles and at all speeds the contact patch in terms of area, shape and pressure, supporting the tread to reach an unbeatable grip and stability level.

The tyre structure has also been designed in order to allow the front and rear work synchronized in a balanced behavior, with the two tyres perfectly matched in motion.

The patented zero degree steel belt beneath the tread optimizes the tyre�s shape and elasticity for a significant progressive feedback at lean, homogeneous behavior in lean and unbeatable bump absorption. With the support of the compounds the zero degree steel belt ensures maximum breaking stability.
