Emanuela Grandi

Please describe your career path
My Pirelli career is a long story. I joined in '97 as a research student and after a year spent on laboratory experiments was taken on in the R&D department with a purely technical role in advanced research. Between 1998 and '99 I became involved in the true research and development sector: that is to say I followed the complete process through to the end user. Between 2002 and 2004, following the sale of the optical systems group, I had the opportunity to work within an international setting before returning to Pirelli as a Senior Project Leader in 2005 as the group began to take its first steps as Pirelli Labs.

What are the interesting and instructive aspects of your job?
The sense of belonging and commitment are integral elements of a job with Pirelli: the responsibility you are assigned is enormous and the output demanded is high, but in the end you experience every phase of the project development, including the decision-making processes, as if it were a part of you. Pirelli Labs represents a continual challenge, a will to work and a constant willingness to commit yourself on the basis of the methodological repertory that Pirelli provides for your personal development.
